Colonel J. Taylor Sink, United States Air Force has been selected  to honor the Wright Brothers in a celebration of a century of flight.  As a Command Pilot of the most sophisticated aircraft in the USAF inventory he personifies the bold spirited aviator envisioned by Orville and Wilbur to capture the notion, "The Skys The Limit."

J. T. Sink is currently Chief, Operations Plans Division, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, where he oversees development and execution of plans for contingency operations and military exercises.  A native Californian, he was born in Los Angeles and graduated from San Pedro High School.  Following graduation with a degree in Astronautical Engineering from the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.  In his 24-year career, Colonel Sink has flown mainly single-seat attack aircraft, including the F‑117A Stealth Fighter, the A-10 Thunderbolt II (also known as the “Warthog”) and the A-7 Corsair II.   He  has held command, staff, and flying assignments at bases in the U. S. (including Alaska and Hawaii), Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, and is a Command Pilot with over 2,900 military flight hours, including 21 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm.

Colonel Sink’s educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University and a Master’s degree in Airpower Art and Science from the School of Advanced Airpower Studies.  He attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and graduated from Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies in Tokyo.

Colonel Sink's decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and Aerial Achievement Medal.  He is the 1987 winner of the Harold George Daedalian Foundation Fellowship and is a distinguished graduate of both the USAF Squadron Officer School and the Air Command and Staff College.

Colonel Sink enjoys scuba diving, snorkeling, and playing the piano. He and his wife Kathryn, a business consultant and homemaker, are volunteers with the children’s program at Calvary Chapel of West Oahu.  They have two children of their own.
